HISTORY

When company founder Justin Beitler was working as an airplane ferry pilot he would often share photos with his friends and family outlining the airports and airplanes he encountered along the way. As the photos and stories spread to other pilots, Justin received questions from those looking to learn more about new airports and airplanes. With pilots continuing to ask similar questions, Justin began looking for a way to answer them in one common location. After providing many illustrated written accounts, Justin decided to bring a video camera into the cockpit and it was an instant success. As his videos began to receive more attention, and even more questions flooded in, Justin decided to create his own website dedicated to educating pilots about destinations, products, and flying techniques through the use of video and illustrated written accounts. In 2009, this led to the creation of My Fly Guys.

OUR TEAM

Justin “Clutch” Beitler
Chief Pilot and Founder
Justin BeitlerAs a young child, Justin’s father would take him flying in a helicopter while Justin was still so small that his feet couldn’t reach the control pedals. While his ambitions were slightly ahead of his age, he knew that flying was what he wanted to do, and so, at the age of 8, Justin began to officially record his flights in a log book. After earning his pilot’s license in a Schweitzer 300 helicopter, Justin began flying higher performance aircraft, and in 2001 he became the youngest person to graduate from the Eurocopter factory helicopter flight school.

Since then Justin has expanded his flying credentials to include fixed wing aircraft, and he has been flying glass panel airplanes since 2003. Justin has experience flying many types of aircraft, and has served as a ferry pilot, instructor, and even an aircraft fleet manager. While Justin has an extensive background within aviation, his expertise outside of aviation has also proven valuable. With experience in accounting, database programming, website development, and corporate management, Justin has a diverse skill set which makes him a strong foundation for the My Fly Guys team.

Gavin “Mix” Woodman
Director of Business Development
Gavin WoodmanWith a family rooted in aviation, Gavin seemed destined to become a pilot. His father and older brother are both commercial pilots, and his mother served as a United and Pan American flight attendant. Gavin first took the controls of an airplane at the age of 11 and officially earned his pilot’s license as a teenager. His flight instructing career began in 2005, and he has since developed a passion for teaching other pilots how to get the most out of their advanced avionics systems.

As a factory authorized Columbia (Cessna Corvalis) instructor, a member of the Cirrus Standardized Instructor Program and a Factory Syllabus trained Diamond DA42 TwinStar instructor, Gavin has given well over a thousand hours of flight training in Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA). Gavin has experience managing fleet operations and currently serves as the general manager of piston services for Woodman Aviation, providing pre-purchase consulting, transition training and aircraft management services.

Gavin earned a BA in Economics from the University of California San Diego and is slated to complete his MBA with emphasis in Marketing from the Rady School of Management in San Diego in the spring of 2011.

Kristi "Fidget" Rodriguez
Director of Merchandising
Kristi RodriguezFrom a very early age, Kristi began developing her pilot skills. When she was only 5 years old she began carrying maps along with her aboard commercial flights so that she could track the progress of the airplane as it flew across the country. After many years of joining her mother on business trips simply for the opportunity to ride in an airplane, Kristi’s passion for aviation brought her to the pilot’s seat.

Kristi would eventually earn her commercial pilot’s certificate for both land and sea planes, as well as her multi-engine and instrument instructor certificate. Academically Kristi further focused on her passion earning an Associates Degree in Commercial Flight at Mt. San Antonio College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Administration from The Ohio State University.

Now working as a full time flight instructor, Kristi is an active member of “Women in Aviation” and is seeking a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology from California State University Long Beach.

Loren “Apple Juice” Marburg
Technical Advisor
Loren Marburg“Intern A.J.” as he is known, has helped bridge the gap between flying and video/audio production. As a student at Wildwood Upper School in Los Angeles, California, Loren received training as a front of house live audio engineer. He has continued to work in the post production industry and has worked with video sound production for over two years.

As a student pilot, Loren is also an active aviation enthusiast. Not only does he have a love for “warbirds” and other vintage aircraft, but he has also worked as a restoration volunteer at “The Air Museum: Planes of Fame” in Chino, California. Recently, Loren achieved a major milestone by flying a single engine Cessna airplane solo, and he hopes to earn his private pilot’s license in late 2010.
